• Microsoft Windows based computer. Right now, Mac doesn’t support executable (.exe) files. The new Intel-Macs might eventually solve that problem – right now Mac is not supported, and neither is Linux. If in doubt about whether your computer will run the file, download and try it before you buy – there are no refunds. The download contains a sample chapter but, when you’re ready, you can purchase the registration key, and activate it, to gain instant access to the other chapters.
• Reasonable amount of available RAM (memory, not hard drive space) to load the built-in PDF files. At least 512mb total and 256 available would be a good idea, but you may have no trouble with less (e.g. 256mg total). As with any software of any size, the number of background processes running on the lower right of your screen (down by the clock) can reduce available RAM significantly.
• Reasonable amount of hard-drive space: The file is under 350mb.
• Be signed on as the administrator of your computer. If you are not the designated computer administrator, you might be prevented from registering and running new programs, depending on what rights the administrator has given you.
• Have control of your security software. The book must connect to the internet during the registration process in order to verify your registration code. If you have an aggressive firewall, you may want to disable it before trying to register the book, or else be able to allow the book to connect past the firewall. If you work where an IT department has control of your system, you may need to consult them on downloading and registering the book.
• An internet connection for the registration: when you first register the book, it will need to connect to the internet to verify your registration key. If you have a flaky, high-latency internet connection, you could see issues. We cannot support your internet connection – it’s up to you to make sure it’s solid.
